Information we collect
Under-18 students enrol through a parent or guardian account. We collect the minimum needed to deliver the programme: the parent’s contact details, the student’s name, age and school system, shipping details for the development board, and the work the student produces on the Studio. Payment is handled by a payment provider; we do not store card numbers.
Consent
A public project page is published only with the family’s consent, and can be withdrawn at any time. Photographs or video from showcases and the Taipei week are used only with consent. Communications with the student go through the parent’s account for younger students.
Research
Participation in MTRI’s research is separate from participation in the programme. It needs the parent’s separate written consent, can be withdrawn at any time without affecting the student’s place, and uses de-identified data (interaction logs, notebooks and artefacts). Results are published in aggregate.
Designs and intellectual property
The student keeps the copyright in their design. The programme receives a licence to showcase the project and, with consent, to include the design in an open registry that later cohorts can learn from. The Studio and its templates remain Magellan Global’s.
Key terms
- Fees, dates and formats are confirmed for each cohort before enrolment and stated in the enrolment agreement.
- Every cohort is booked on two independent fabrication routes. If one is delayed the design moves to the other at no cost; if both fail, the family chooses between a refund of the silicon portion of the fee and a place on the next run.
- No award, publication or admission to any school or university is promised.
- The programme follows the integrity rules of the competitions it supports, including the disclosure of mentor and AI involvement.
- Contracts are with Magellan Global, headquartered in Singapore.
